Based on a painting by E. Blair Leighton, this piece reflects the medieval tradition of knighthood. Young nobles began as pages, then squires, before being knighted in a ceremonial accolade, often preceded by a religious vigil. Knights were either bachelors, serving under another's banner, or bannerettes, leading under their own. Accompanied by squires, pages, vassals, and servants, knights played key roles in feudal warfare. After 1100, primogeniture left many knights landless, leading them to join religious-military orders like the Templars, Hospitallers, and Teutonic Knights, especially during the Crusades.
This tapestry is fully lined and fitted with a tunnel for a hanging rod (rod not included).
