This hand-crafted Medieval reproduction is taken from an original 16th-century carving found in Carlisle Cathedral. Cast from a mould made directly from the original, the piece preserves the fine detail, form, and subtle expression of the historic work.
The carving depicts Eve seated, holding bulrushes, in a classic Romanesque style. Along with its paired counterpart of Adam, it references the rivers Tigris and Euphrates as symbols of the giver of life. Originally carved in Antwerp, Belgium (c.1559) for a local church, these figures eventually became part of Carlisle Cathedral’s collection. The reproduction faithfully captures the intricate detail and craftsmanship of the original carving.
Cast in a high-quality resin composite and carefully hand-stained to evoke the appearance of aged wood, this reproduction retains the texture, depth, and character of the original work.
Designed for wall mounting, this elegant artefact makes a striking focal point, especially when displayed alongside its companion Adam carving. Supplied complete with a wall fixing and product label.
