This hand-crafted Medieval reproduction is taken from an original c.1450 carving found on the misericords within the choir stalls of Cartmel Priory. Cast from a mould made directly from the original, the piece preserves the intricate detail, texture, and character of the historic work.
The carving depicts a lion in the style of a “Lion Mask,” rendered in a playful and unusual manner. With a large smile, curly mane, and an almost laughing expression, this depiction contrasts with the traditional image of the lion as the king of beasts. Its whimsical presence makes it a captivating and conversational focal point when displayed.
Cast in a high-quality resin composite and carefully hand-stained to evoke the appearance of aged wood, this reproduction faithfully retains the fine detail, depth, and craftsmanship of the original medieval carving.
Designed for wall mounting, the piece comes complete with a fixing hook and product label.
