This hand-crafted Medieval reproduction is taken from an original c.1400 carving found on the choir screens at the entrance to the choir of Carlisle Cathedral. Cast from a mould made directly from the original, the piece preserves the gentle form and fine surface detail of the medieval carving.
The subject depicts a long, slender hunting hound curled up at rest. Like many carvings at Carlisle Cathedral, the image reflects everyday life in medieval society, acknowledging the importance of animals and ordinary experience within the spiritual and communal values of the Church.
Cast in a high-quality resin composite and carefully hand-stained to evoke the appearance of aged wood, this reproduction faithfully retains the craftsmanship and subtle detail of the original work.
Designed for wall mounting, this quietly expressive artefact makes a refined focal point, whether displayed alone or as part of a wider collection. Supplied complete with a wall fixing and product label.
