Inspired by the fine medieval misericords of Carlisle Cathedral (c. 1400–1419), this carving depicts a working peasant of the period. The figure is shown with a beard and wearing a headdress typical of the era, reflecting the appearance and status of an everyday medieval labourer.
Like many of the original misericords, the carving has survived in remarkably good condition. This high-quality reproduction, taken directly from the original, faithfully captures the intricate detail and skilled craftsmanship of the medieval carver over 600 years ago.
Offering a fascinating glimpse into daily life in the Middle Ages, this piece highlights why such scenes were deemed worthy of preservation within cathedral carvings for centuries. Supplied with wall fixing and a product label.
